Explore intarsia knitting and learn tips for keeping your yarns organised, maintaining your tension, calculating yarn needs and more. You will get a pattern to practise your skills.

Skills required

Advanced beginner

Suitable for beginners who can cast on, bind off, knit, purl. Some experience with working from charts will be helpful but not essential.

Materials required

Please bring:

  • at least 4 different colours of DK yarn (approx. 10-20g of each colour)

  • 2 x gauge size knitting needles (straight or circular)

  • a ruler

  • pencil/pen

  • tapestry needle cable needle

  • scissors

About Sylvia Watts-Cherry

Sylvia Watts-Cherry is a British designer who loves bold patterns and striking colours. She learned to knit at an early age and is a prolific knitter. Her identity is important to her, and she likes to draw influence from her African heritage and Scottish upbringing in her designs.
