This is a project-based class providing an introduction to Fair Isle knitting using dpns. You will produce a small sample in the round which can be made into a cover for a small lavender bag while learning how to knit with yarn in both hands, read charts and other general techniques. 

Pattern charts and yarn in lots of different colours will be available for you to choose from.  

Skills required

Experience of knitting with four double pointed needles (dpns) 

Materials required

All materials will be provided, including yarn, needles and cotton covered lavender sachet.  

Teacher biography

As well as designing and producing a range of accessories using fine velvet, Harris Tweed and her City on Cloth collection which uses digitally printed artworks featuring old street maps, Helen teaches handknitting from her studio at Summerhall. Her aim is to create, and teach others to create, beautifully crafted items which will last for many years.
