Tunisian Crochet is a great technique that combines some elements of both knitting and crochet yet can end up looking completely different! Add a craft to your repertoire and enjoy the fabric you create with your new skills!

Participants will learn

  • What Tunisian Crochet is and how it works

  • Have an overview of the range of fabric possibilities using Tunisian Crochet

  • All the techniques and standard stitches

  • How to read and follow a Tunisian Crochet pattern

  • Basic shaping techniques

Skills required

No previous skills or experience in Tunisian crochet required, some basic crochet skills can be helpful but not necessary.

Materials required

  • 100g of Aran / Worsted yarn in any shade (avoid dark colours)

  • 5mm / 8 / H Tunisian crochet hook

  • Patterns and handout will be provided by the tutor

Teacher biography

Samira, a former professional archaeologist, teaches knitting and crochet professionally and is also a designer, freelance pattern writer and technical editor, based in the Scottish Borders. Samira is also the co-organiser of the new Fibres Festival Tangled Galashiels.  

Samira’s designs are inspired by local nature, walks in the historic landscape, and appreciation for the people and places that surround her. As a crafter and designer, she thrives on collaborating with the talented independent yarn and textile producers that exist in the Borders and beyond, highlighting the local and the wider textile crafts community in her design adventures.
