During the course of the workshop you will learn how to spin on a stick or 'pirn', create a centre pull ball from your yarn, ply your handspun and wind it into a mini skein. Everyone will go home with a small skein of their own plied handspun yarn.

Skills required

Beginner

This workshop is perfect for beginners wishing to learn how to spin yarn and more experienced spinners who are new to the technique of stick spinning, which is quite distinct from drop spindling.

Materials required

All materials are provided and there will be an opportunity to purchase your own stick spinning kit at the end of the workshop.

About Debbie Zawinski

Debbie Zawinski – aka The Feral Spinner - has been a woolly enthusiast from a very young age. Debbie has been a knitter all her life and a spinner for almost 40 years. In latter years she has combined her interests in textiles and the outdoors to write two popular books - In The Footsteps of Sheep and Stories in Stitches.
